Lighthouse quilt almost finished.

My mother returned to her home state of Maine a few years after the death of her husband,Lee. She no longer desired driving, so her neighbor across the road ( yes road not street) graciously drove her to town or other places when she needed to go somewhere. While visiting Maine one year I asked my mother's friend-a woman, who with her three sisters -as young girls, played with me, what I could do to compensate her for all of the attention and time she gave my mother. "Nothing" was her reply. She said she had never expected anything. She just was a friend to my mother. The next day I suggested making her a quilt. She loves lighthouses as much or more than I do. This was the beginning of the lighthouse quilt.

This is the backing and the thread moves well here.

I used variegated thread ( sews light and dark) and as you can see some of the loops disappeared in the process. Over all, though, I believe it came out well.

I really wish I had more of the wave border fabric. It places everything in the sea.
Now begins the part I truly do not enjoy-sewing on the binding. My daughters have learned to sew the binding on quilts, and that means they get the quilt much faster.
Sadly she does not sew a stitch, so I'll have to send it to her totally bound. Oh well, as Scarlett stated, "I'll worry about that tommorrow."

I like the way the wave quilting turned out on it. I also like the feathering on the borders. Wish I lived close enough, I would bind it for you.

The quilt came out great! She is going to love this! Just give me a ring and I will come over and help you bind it.
