Island in the Sky

Our group of "oldies", but "goodies" trailered our ATV's to Kanab on Monday and then went on a  rid, that was sandy and smooth, except for the washed out up and down hill parts. It was an interesting trip with Darwin Crawford ( who seems to be related to both/or the Hepworth family ( your grandmother's side) or the Stratton's ( your grandfather's side) in Hurricane. He was very kind and informative.
We meet in Kanab at Honey's Market and they had this car all duded up.
Along the way we saw some dinosaur tracks.

Close to Moqui Caves we saw this colorful site. Wish the zip line was not so apparent.
This is what Island in the sky looked like from our ATV's before we began the hike over to it. You can just see Richard in the lower right hand corner.
Finally we all realized the petroglyphs were on the floor -where the shadow is in the above photo. We had fun guessing what each drawing meant.
I thought the walls were the most beautiful part of the place. I would love to have a whole wall of these in my house.

We turned back and stopped to eat our packed lunches- I didn't bake cookies this time, but shared some wonderful Dark Chocolate Bark with pumpkin seeds with everyone. (Thanks Costco for selling these).
Back at the trailer site most of the group went into Kanab to eat (again). But our guide took us and another couple across someone's red earth farm land, and saw some more wall art. There were lots of shadows from the trees and it was late afternoon, so many of the pictures didn't turn out as desired.
