Later however, part of the outlet gear malfunctioned ( it as broken) and the lake went down to it's natural size. This is the broken outlet part of the dam.
This is the temporary outlet close off.
Earlier in the year water was overflowing over the dam here. Very dry now. The white dots ringing the pool beneath the dam are dead fish.
They have made a temporary dam, so that they can repair the main dam. The water used to come up on both sides here.
At the beginning of the summer the water came up to the fence by the road in the following photos. Very little grass was able to grow between the fence and the lake at that time.
At this boat rental place the water came nearly to the top of the rocks he dumped out here.
This is a view from the parking area by the garbage dumpsters.
Now for the truly sad and disgusting part. I don't know what the distance is from the dam to the "shantytown" buildings just before the bridge across the stream, but on every bit of that space were, what you see below.
This was the only place I actually saw some live fish. As there was only a trickle of water coming through the temporary dam, they probably won't have oxygen to live for much longer. Look carefully and you will see them.
Sad to think of how many were tossed back this summer because they measured were an inch or so the wrong way. I hope it rains and snows alot this year.

Wow, I'm glad you took pictures. That lake looks like it belongs in Texas now.
