A sunflower at last!

I was excited to see a sunflower growing in my garden; apparently it made it through last year and came up this year as I was told not to plant any gourds and thus did not plant any superfluous sunflower seeds. The only problem is that it came up next to the wrought iron fence and faces into the dog pen. All pictures look like it is in prison.

I was totally upset to see that the buds, blossoms, and leaves were chewed off one of my favorite cherry tomato plants. I looked early this morning and discovered the culprit. I got gloves, and pliers and pulled it off into a sandwich baggie. I also found relatives and dropped them into other baggies. I then put them under my car tire and ran over them, both front and reverse. Very very irritating to be getting tomatoes and them find the green monsters ruining the harvest!

I went out later in the day and found two more! Hope I've found the majority of them!

It sounds like a lot of work to put them under your tire and run them over in forward and reverse! Hmmm... but maybe if that helps release steam you could find more of them and save them until you need to release some steam? :) GLad you found them. Home grown tomatoes sound delicious! I wonder if Natalie would like them.

I find cutting them in half (on the vine) with a pair of scissors works best...plus you don't have to touch them at all. Hope you didn't find more...they can clear a garden quick.
